Candlestick made from waste milk and chalk, drawing on historic uses of milk as a building material. Sourced from a small organic dairy in Sussex, the discarded milk is cast in sewn fabric moulds that reference traditional cheesecloth. Accepting the idiosyncrasies of the material, this casting technique allows each piece to retain a sense of fluidity. As the liquid dries to a solid, the fabric is peeled off, leaving the delicate imprint of seams and stitches on the surface. The process turns a perishable by-product into a precious object, using milk to question systems of value whilst honouring its role in sustaining life.
